Game Of Thrones Spinoff Scrapped by HBO. It was called off after a blaze of blood and fire — and, presumably, a lot of money.
According to former WarnerMedia chairman Bob Greenblatt, HBO’s cancelled “Game of Thrones” spinoff series, which was set to star Naomi Watts, spent $30 million on one episode.
Greenblatt says James Andrew Miller in his new HBO oral history, “Tinderbox,” that “They had spent over $30 million on a ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel pilot that was in production when I got there.”
Kingsman Writer Proposed Script
Jane Goldman, the author of the “Kingsman” film series, proposed a series that would take set thousands of years before the events of “Game of Thrones.” The show would focus on the legend of the world, such as the true origins of the White Walkers, the secrets of the East, and the world’s slide from the Golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour, as it followed the Stark and Lannister forefathers.
House Of Dragon
The show, rumored to be called “The Long Night,” was approved in June 2018. After only producing the pricey pilot, the series was canceled in October 2019. “We unfortunately decided to pull the plug on it,” Greenblatt says in the book. “There was enormous pressure to get it right and I don’t think that would have worked.”
The good news is “House of the Dragon” is still happening though.
