‘Don’t Look Up’? Very Funny Indeed

Dont Look Up Movie Review

Don’t Look Up is insanely funny, and DiCaprio delivers yet another brilliant performance, proving he’s the Nicholson of our time.
The film isn’t as spectacular as its star-studded cast suggests, but it’s exactly what you expect it to be, and I like that: a slightly sly but broad satire.

A biting comedy that isn’t for everyone, but fans of McKay’s astute commentary will enjoy it. DiCaprio is miscast but still willing to play well with others, while Lawrence and Rylance shine the brightest. The film contains excellent satire (which is a rare word these days) of current events. Of course, any resemblances between such ridiculous personalities and real people are purely coincidental. You’ll laugh at them a few times, maybe more, and then forget most of it. I really like the plot’s twists and turns, which are surprisingly insightful.

<h3>The <ess

The film’s multiple messages, the most important of which is listen to the science, can’t help but hit home. The reactions to the scientific community depicted in the film are true to where we are as a society. All of this couldn’t have happened at a better time. This film accurately depicted the range of human emotions that we would all experience in the face of such an event. It did an excellent job of demonstrating how our country is more concerned with approval ratings and profit than with things that truly matter, such as family, love, and the truth.

It’s unusual for me to walk out of a cinema and hear the entire audience talking animatedly about the film they just saw, but that’s exactly what happened with this one. Fantastic snapshot of humanity at the moment, what would have seemed utterly ridiculous two years ago is now accurate and poignant in light of recent global events. The entire theater was laughing, and almost every idiotic event or comment could be traced back to something I’d legitimately heard in real life. There were a lot of very funny moments, and despite having a hugely star-studded cast, it didn’t feel overburdened. It could only end in one of three ways, and the one that happened wasn’t the one I expected, but it was equally satisfying and depressing. A sad and sorry story about the state of the world, that I strongly recommend.
