This month Nate Parker is set to release his award winning film “American Skin”, will be released to North America. The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2019 and won at the Sconfini section’s awards and was picked up by Vertical Entertainment. Parker directed, wrote and stars in the film as an Iraq War vet who seeks justice after his only son is killed by a white police officer. Omari Hardwick, Theo Rossi and Beau Knapp complete the cast.
“Just a few months after its premiere at the Venice Film Festival, the Black Lives Matter movement occurred. As a society, we need to acknowledge the truth about systemic racism and tackle the fear that drives it,” Ammar said.
If you don’t know who Nate Parker is, go watch “The Birth of a Nation,” a good film based on the 1831 slave revolt led by Nat Turner, but subsequently resurfaced the difficulty Packer went through in his past of being accused of rape. He was acquitted in 2001. Parker has since moved past this part of his life to a new chapter has previously said he doesn’t feel guilty (interviewed on 60 minutes). We will see how his come back comes into fruition. We will most likely get a review out of this one so stay tuned.
