One of the top comedies of this generation is the 2005 comedy Wedding Crashers, which has withstood the test of time. There may be plans for a sequel, according to actor Owen Wilson.
In a recent interview with Extra for his role in the Paramount+ original movie Secret Headquarters, Wilson was asked about an update on the potential sequel.
The next question was if Wilson had seen the script for a potential sequel. Wilson avoided answering the question directly, although he did slyly add that “they’re working on some stuff, yes.” Wilson said last year that he and actor Vince Vaughn could start crashing weddings to gain some more inspiration, which sparked rumors of a potential sequel to the movie.
Wedding Crashers, which debuted in 2005 and starred Wilson, Vaughn, Isla Fisher, Rachel McAdams, Christopher Walken, and many others, immediately became popular. It earned approximately $300 million at the box office and is sometimes credited with reviving interest in more mature, R-rated comedies.
“David Dobkin, the director, I think he’s sort of, kind of exploring some ideas,” Wilson said. “And it was kind of, one of those movies that we had such a great time doing it, and then obviously it got a really nice response. So, just hoping if you do do something, that it can live up to the first one.”
It is a waiting game at this point but it would be amazing.
